Angelica Carvalho Di Maio

Graduated in Cartographic Engineering from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1989), Master’s in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (1994) and Ph.D. in Geography (Spatial Information Analysis) from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2004). She is currently an associate professor at the Department of Geoenvironmental Analysis. She develops research and extension in the field of Geosciences and the Environment, with an emphasis on Cartography, working mainly on the following topics: Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing, and Cartography in Education.

Christy Ganzert Gomes Pato

Christy Pato holds a PhD in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Political Science, both from the University of São Paulo – USP, and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina – UFSC. He is currently a professor at the Political Science Department at UFF. He works in the areas of Philosophy, Economics, and Political Theory.

Daniel de Mello Sanfelici

He holds a degree in Geography from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2005), a Master’s (2009) and a Ph.D. (2013) in Human Geography from the Universidade de São Paulo. He held a Doctoral internship program at the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics (CUNY/Graduate Center/USA) (2010-11). He was a postdoctoral researcher at Universidade Federal Fluminense in 2014 (Capes/PNPD) and at Laboratoire Techniques, Territoires et Sociétés (LATTS), Université Paris-Est, in 2015 (Capes). He is currently a professor in the Department of Geography. And he develops research in the fields of urban studies and economic geography, with an emphasis on the following themes: Actors and dynamics of the urban real estate market, territorial planning policies, sources and structures for financing urban real estate production, and models of city governance.

Javier Walter Ghibaudi

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (2001), a Master’s and a PhD degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2010). He is currently an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics. He works mainly on the following topics: Political economy and economic development, economic thinking, cooperativism and urban and regional economics.

Roldan Petros Muradian Sarache

He holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences – Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona – UAB (2002). He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Economics at Universidade Federal Fluminense. He has experience in Economics, with an emphasis on Natural Resource Economics, working mainly on the following topics: Payments for ecosystem services, trade and the environment, environmental governance, globalization, and migration.

Eduardo Heleno de Jesus Santos

Eduardo Heleno de Jesus Santos

Graduated in Journalism (2006), holds a Master’s degree in Political Science (2009) and a Ph.D. in Political Science (2015) from Universidade Federal Fluminense. He was a freelance correspondent for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo (2009-2010), and worked at the regional bureau of McClatchy Newspapers/Miami Herald in Rio de Janeiro (2005-2007). He is an adjunct professor in the Department of Strategic Studies and International Relations of the Institute of Strategic Studies. He prepares and directs research on the following topics: Armed forces and society, history of journalism, military dictatorship, public defense policies, international relations, and South American integration.
Enzo Bello

Enzo Bello

Graduated in Legal and Social Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and holds a Master’s degree in Legal Sciences from PUC-Rio. Also holds a PhD in Law from UERJ, with a post-doctoral internship in Law from UNISINOS and a post-doctoral internship in Social Work from UFRJ. He is an associate professor at the Faculty of Law. He has experience in Law, with an emphasis on Research Methodology, State Theory, and Constitutional Law, working mainly on the following themes: citizenship, right to the city, and Latin American constitutionalism.
Fabio Domingues Waltenberg

Fabio Domingues Waltenberg

He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Economics from the Universidade de São Paulo, and a doctorate in Economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at the Chair of Inequality at the Colégio Brasileiro de Altos Estudos at UFRJ. He coordinates the Brazilian team involved in the evaluation of the Citizen’s Basic Income program in Maricá. His research focuses on economic analysis of social policies, with an emphasis on education and income transfer.

Fabio Reis Mota

Graduated in Social Sciences from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in 2001. He holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology from UFF (2003) and a PhD in Anthropology from the same institution (2009), with a sandwich doctorate internship at the Université de Paris X and CEMS and GSPM of EHESS (2006-2007). He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Anthropology. He has experience in Anthropology, with an emphasis on Legal and Political Anthropology. His research is aimed at analyzing the processes of demands for rights and recognition from claims of “differentiated identities” through a comparative approach.

Fernanda Duarte Lopes Lucas da Silva

Graduated in Law from the Universidade Católica de Petrópolis (1991) and in English from the University of Cambridge (1990). She holds a PhD (2003) and a Master’s (1999) in Constitutional Law and State Theory from PUC/RJ. She is an associate professor at the Faculty of Law. She has an investigative interest in the following thematic areas: Relations between Court and Society, conflict management, legal culture, constitutional jurisdiction and democracy; administrative justice, formation of the judicial decision and jurisprudence analysis; grammar of the court decision; analysis of legal discourse, process and procedural practices, constitutional principles and human rights; legal equality; democratic rule of law and access to justice and the law and due process of law; american constitutionalism and legal cultures in a comparative perspective.

Helena Carla Castro

Graduated in Pharmaceutical Qualification (1992) from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), then took a Master’s in Biological Chemistry from UFRJ (1996) and a Ph.D. from UFRJ (with an exchange semester at the University of California, US in 2000). She held a postdoctoral degree in Pharmacology, also from UFRJ. She is a professor at the Institute of Biology. She has experience in Applied Microbiology and Parasitology, Molecular Modeling and Pharmacological Biochemistry, with an emphasis on Studies and Identification of New Therapeutic Targets and Prototypes for Antimicrobials and Antiparasitics. She also teaches the following topics: Applied Microbiology, Molecular Modeling of Therapeutic Targets (enzymes/receptors), Inhibitors (antithrombotics, antibiotics and antiparasitic) and Protein Complexes, Dissemination of Globally Important and Neglected Diseases and Production of Interdisciplinary and Inclusive Teaching Materials from the Perspective of People with Special Needs (eg, visual or/and hearing).

Pedro Aguiar Lopes de Abreu

Pedro Aguiar is a journalist and scholar focused on news agencies, international communication and media in the Global South. He is a professor at the Department of Communication of Fluminense Federal University. He holds his PhD in Communication from the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and his MA and BA in Journalism from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). His 2018 doctoral dissertation on the news agencies of the Global South was awarded the Adelmo Genro Filho Prize by the Brazilian Association of Journalism Research. Pedro is a member of the Media and International Relations Study Laboratory (LEMCRI) at UERJ/UFRJ.

Graduated in Law from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2003), also graduated in Artistic Education – Music, by the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música – Centro Universitário (2002), and graduated in Piano, by the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música- Centro Universitário ( 2008), took a Master’s in Law from Universidade Gama Filho (2006), a PhD in Law from Universidade Gama Filho (2009) and a PhD in Neo-Latin Languages – Italian Language at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2011). He is currently an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law. He conducted postdoctoral research in Political Science at the Centro de Estudos de Cultura Contemporânea (2014). He works in Law, Political Science and Languages, with an emphasis on the relationship between discourse, Law and State, working mainly on the following topics: constitutional jurisdiction, process, legal methodology, discourse analysis, and language theories.

Ricardo Perlingeiro Mendes da Silva

Graduated in Law from Universidade Federal Fluminense (1989), took a Master’s degree (1996) and Ph.D. in Law at Universidade Gama Filho (1998), and a specialization degree in Law at Universidade de Brasília (1999). He developed postdoctoral research (as Gastforscher) at the Forschungsinstitut für Öffentliche Verwaltung Speyer (2006-2007). He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Law and a federal judge at the Tribunal Regional Federal da 2a Região. He acts mainly in: Effectiveness of the External Jurisdiction; Execution against the Public Treasury; Innovations in the Management of Administrative Justice Bodies; Administrative Justice and Strengthening the Rule of Law; International Legal Cooperation; Access to Justice and Process Effectiveness.

Tâmis Peixoto Parron

Tamis Parron is a professor at the Institute of History and an expert on the history of slavery and capitalism. He wrote A política da escravidão no Império do Brasil (Civilização Brasileira, Jabuti Prize for best work in Human Sciences, 2012) and, in co-authorship, Escravidão e Política: Brasil e Cuba (Hucitec, 2010), translated into English as Slavery and Politics: Brazil and Cuba (University of New Mexico Press, 2016). He edited Cartas a favor da escravidão (Hedra, multiple editions) and he organizes the Narrativas da Escravidão collection (Hedra, 2020). He is also a member of the UFF Centre on Global Inequalities.

Adilson Vaz Cabral Filho

Graduated in Social Communication, with enphasis on Publicity and Advertising (1992), from Universidade Federal Fluminense, and took a master’s and doctorate degree in Social Communication (1995 and 2005) at Universidade Metodista de São Paulo. He did a post-doctorate in Communication at the University Carlos III of Madrid (2013). He is currently a full professor linked to the Department of Social Communication. He works mainly on the following themes: Communication Policies, Democratization of Communication, Social Appropriation of ICTs, Community Communication, and Digitalization of Communications.
André Cabral de Almeida Cardoso

André Cabral de Almeida Cardoso

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Literature from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), with specializations in Portuguese and English, and translation. He holds a Master’s degree in Brazilian literature from PUC-Rio and a PhD in Comparative Literature from New York University. He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages at Universidade Federal Fluminense and is part of the faculty of the Graduate Program in Literature Studies at the same university. He has experience in the field of Literature, with an emphasis on Comparative Literature, working on the following themes: sentimental romance, Brazilian romance, contemporary literature in the English language, science fiction, the Gothic and the dystopian as literary strands, and the apocalyptic imaginary, in a comparative historical perspective.

Andrea Brito Latgé

She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Physics from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, and a doctorate in Physics from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (1989). She is currently a full professor at the Institute of Physics and Pro-Rector of Research, Graduate Studies, and Innovation at UFF. Her main area of expertise is Condensed Matter Theory, in which she studies electronic and transport properties of carbon-based nanostructured systems, and graphene nanoribbons.

Andressa Cristina Molinari

PhD in Education from the State University of Londrina (UEL), with a sandwich doctorate at the University of Georgia (UGA), a Master’s degree in Language Studies (UEL), and specializes in language teacher training from the State University of Maringá (UEM). She has a degree in Modern Foreign Languages – English (UEL) and Pedagogy (UEL). She is an adjunct professor at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), and coordinator of CITE (Writing Center UFF). Her research interests include language teacher training and bilingual education, internationalization policies in higher education and bi/multilingual practices. She has extensive experience as a teacher, working mainly in primary and secondary education, as a coordinator of institutional programs and as a teacher in higher education.

Gerlinde Agate Platais Brasil Teixeira

Graduated in Medicine from Universidade Federal Fluminense (1982), took a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and Immunology at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1995) and a Ph.D. in Pathology at Universidade Federal Fluminense (2003). She is an adjunct professor at the Department of Immunobiology. She has experience as a researcher in two areas: Immunology, developing an animal model for the study of food allergy, and Science and Biology Education, developing methods and techniques for learning and stimulating creativity through the generation of educational models. She also researches the influence of non-formal education on formal education within the scope of science teaching.

Graduated in Languages from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1976), took a Master’s Degree in Neo-Latin Languages at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1984), a Ph.D. in Languages (Spanish Language and Spanish and Hispanic-American Literature) at the Universidade de São Paulo (1997), with postdoctoral research at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Spain (2008). She is currently a professor at the Institute of Languages and Superintendent of International Relations at UFF. She works mainly on the following themes: Latin American Essay, Testimonial Literature, Literary and Cultural Relations in Latin America.

Mônica Maria Guimarães Savedra

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Portuguese and German from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1977), took a Master’s Degree in Education at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1988) and a Ph.D. in Linguistics at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1994). She carried out postdoctoral research at the Universität Duisburg-Essen (2004). She is currently a professor at the Institute of Languages, where she develops research and supervise works in Sociolinguistics, with an emphasis on Linguistic Contact, with special attention to languages of immigration, within the scope of bilingualism/bilinguality, plurilinguality/multilinguality and pluricentric languages.

Graduated in History from Universidade Federal Fluminense (1992), and in Medicine from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1994), took a Master’s Degree in Anthropology at Universidade Federal Fluminense (1997) and a Ph.D. in Anthropology at Boston University (2002). He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Anthropology, coordinating the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (NEOM) at UFF. He has ethnographic research with an emphasis on the following themes: Anthropology of Islam, Pilgrimages, Sacred Territories, Shiism, Sufism, Nationalism and Ethnicity, Impact of Arab Revolutions, and Arab Diasporas.

Graduated in Social Communication – Journalism (1993), took a Master’s in Communication and Culture (2003) and a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture (2016) – with an exchange semester at Princeton University (USA) – all at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. She is currently a professor of Journalism in the Department of Social Communication. She has been working as a journalist since 1992, covering books, literature, and culture. She also has experience in Economics (Macroeconomics and Financial Markets) and in International Policy coverage. She is interested in Media History, Media Theory, journalistic practices, and editorial circuits.

She holds a degree in Languages (1987), a specialization in French Language and Literature (1989), a Master’s in Languages (2002), in the area of Linguistic Policy and Teaching of French as a Foreign Language, and a PhD in the area of Language Studies (2006). She did her pedagogical training at the Université de Montréal and at École Azurlingua. She is currently a professor at the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and at the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies at UFF and conducts research in the areas of language policy evaluation, bilingual and contact language education, and sociolinguistics.

Carla Regina Alves Carvalho

Professor in the Department of Geochemistry at UFF, coordinator of the LAC-UFF Radiocarbon Laboratory. Researcher in the postgraduate programs in Physics and Geochemistry. She has experience in Applied Nuclear Physics with multidisciplinary work in Geochronology, Paleoenvironmental Changes, Radioactive Tracers, Radioecology, Natural Radioactivity, Environmental Radioprotection, Determination of the Biogenic Fraction by 14C-AMS, Contamination by Fossil Fuels and Microplastics. Recently, he has been developing projects in environmental contamination assessment with proposals for monitoring and restoring the environment, based on practical actions for quantifying contamination and proposing solutions to environmental problems in favor of sustainable development.

Kita Chaves Damasio Macario

Kita Chaves Damasio Macario

Professor in the Department of Physics and vice-director of the Universidade Federal Fluminense’s Physics Institute. She has experience in the areas of Applied Nuclear Physics, Geochronology, Zooarchaeology, focused on carbon-14 dating by mass spectrometry with accelerators, tracers, and geochemical indicators. Among the research carried out recently are the study of Brazilian archaeological sites, studies aimed at reconstructing the paleoenvironment, including relative sea level curves, past vegetation and climate, coastal ocean dynamics, and fires in the Amazon, as well as estimates of the renewable fraction of biofuels and bioplastics. Its work is multidisciplinary, seeking to bring together the most diverse areas of research on issues that permeate the conservation of our planet’s cultural and natural heritage.

Cíntia Regina Lacerda Rabello

She holds a bachelor’s degree (1996) and a licentiate (1999) in Languages, a master’s degree in Educational Technology in Science and Health (2007) and a PhD in Applied Linguistics, with an internship at the Open University (England). Currently, she is a professor at the Modern Foreign Languages Department and develops research in the areas of English language teaching, teaching-learning of foreign languages, initial and continuing teacher education, digital technologies in education, CALL, and digital education. She is also a member of the Colearn co-teaching network and RRI Data at the Open University.

He is a professor of Spanish Language at the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and at the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies at UFF. She has experience in the areas of Modern Foreign Languages, working mainly on Contrastive Linguistics and the cognition-syntax interface, in the description of Spanish and Portuguese.
